The Short Version

Call (973) 291-0751. If we don't pick up, leave the address where the door is and what it's doing - won't open, won't close, makes a bang, cable hanging loose. That's enough for us to bring the right spring size and the right opener parts instead of guessing from a half-finished voicemail.

Our base is 1 Newark Ctr, Newark, NJ 07102. We're set up to run jobs across the Newark area and into the nearby towns we cover - Harrison, Irvington, Kearny, East Orange, Hillside, Elizabeth, and the other named areas within a few miles. If you're outside that radius, say so when you call and we'll tell you straight whether it makes sense for us to come out.

We don't do emergency dispatch promises we can't back up with a number, so we won't tell you a response time here. What we will tell you is that we take calls in the order they come in and we tell you honestly if a part has to be ordered before we can finish the job.

Getting Hold of Us

Phone is the fastest way: (973) 291-0751. Describe the door - one-piece or sectional, torsion spring overhead or side-mounted, opener brand if you know it - and whether the garage is attached to a house built in the older stock common around here. A lot of Newark-area homes went up between 1938 and 1996, with the median closer to 1958, and that changes which hardware we bring on the truck.

If you'd rather start online, our site is at /. It won't replace the phone call for anything urgent, but it's there if you want to look over what we work on before you dial.

We don't run a 24-hour line, and we're not going to pretend otherwise. If your door is stuck open overnight with the house exposed, say that clearly when you call so we can judge priority. Mailing address for anything you need to send is 1 Newark Ctr, Newark, NJ 07102.

What We Are Called Out For

Most calls are torsion springs that have let go, openers that stopped responding to the remote, and tracks that have bent enough for the rollers to jump. Given that so much of the local housing stock predates 1960, we still see original one-piece doors on side-mounted hardware - a setup that newer home-improvement stores don't stock parts for anymore, so we carry that hardware on the truck rather than hoping a supplier has it.

Winters here fall in the cold-severe band, and that matters for garage doors more than people expect. Steel panels contract, torsion springs lose tension faster in the cold, and openers draw more current to move a door that's stiffened up. We get a steady run of cold-weather calls for exactly that reason.

What we don't do: full home remodels, or jobs where the opening itself needs structural rework beyond the door and track. If a door's problem turns out to be a framing issue, we'll tell you that up front instead of billing for repairs that won't hold.

Questions

Frequently asked

Straight answers about garage door repair in Newark. Still unsure? Ask us directly.

Do you work outside Newark itself

Yes. We cover the close-in towns too - Harrison, Irvington, Kearny, East Orange, Hillside, Elizabeth, and out to places like Bloomfield, Nutley, and Montclair. If you're within a few miles of Newark, call and we'll tell you straight whether it's in range.

Why does my spring keep breaking in winter

Cold tightens metal and stiffens the lubricant on older torsion springs, so a spring that's already near the end of its cycle count is more likely to snap on a cold morning than a mild one. It's not bad luck - it's a worn part meeting a cold snap.

My house is older - is that going to make parts harder to find

Sometimes. A lot of the housing in this area was built between the late 1930s and the 1990s, and some of the original torsion hardware isn't a standard size anymore. We'll tell you up front if a part needs to come from a specialty supplier and what that means for timing.

Is it ever not worth repairing the door

Yes. If you've already replaced springs and rollers once and the door's fighting you again, or the track's bent in more than one place, the repair cost can get close to replacement cost. We'll say so instead of running up a third bill.
